DEVELOPING TAROT - Number Ideas
TAROT SOURCE NUMBER IDEAS
ACE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX SEVEN EIGHT NINE TEN
ACE - Essence
One is the start – the initial dot without which there can be no line, curve, splash, letter, number or drawing.
It is the essence of the suit, often the start of a project involving that suit's associations.
TWO - Duality
Two introduces a new aspect, bringing about a relationship – creating tension which can be fraught or beneficial, according to each suit's qualities.
Two builds on one and expects some result in three.
THREE - Initial Product / Results
Three (and its multiples) are created from what has gone before – they respond to the foregoing situation created by the preceding card(s).
Three is an accumulation connected to its suit and built upon One and Two.
FOUR - Stability
Four stabilises a situation, grounding it – this halts movement for a while, preparing the way for the next cycle.
Four is a rest that should become a new starting point, according to its suit, otherwise things may become stuck.
FIVE - Obstacles
Five brings in tension once more – a struggle of some kind, whether in earnest or in fun.
Five presents obstacles to be overcome, relating to its suit, and brings dynamism back to Four.
SIX - Further Product / Response
Six gathers the preceding again, as a multiple of three and another card of accumulation.
It shows results of Five’s struggle and ways of coping.
Six allows assessment and redress, according to its suit.
SEVEN - Lesson
Seven shows the lesson needing to be learnt – here is a number of wisdom, inviting understanding.
Seven shows the hidden nature of its suit and what may be lacking, often connected to a venture and possibly risk.
EIGHT - Test
Eight tests Seven’s lesson. It shows the practical implications of the preceding card(s).
If Six has provided coping skills and Seven insight, Eight can be dealt with – if not, there may be problems accumulating associated with the suit.
NINE - Harvest
Nine, another multiple of three, harvests what has gone before – it can become a further test, if needed, or a reward.
Nine shows the fruition of its suit. Developing the Nine further is likely to create a tipping point rather than a lasting state.
TEN - Cycle
Ten is a climax and paves the way for a new cycle.
It deals the utmost in its suit, pushing the limits – this tends to be dramatic, even melodramatic. (You really don't need that many swords to get the job done!) It pushes the situation back towards the Ace, in order for there to be further development rather than stagnation.
